1. Five-dimensional geometric electrodynamics with sources (September 2009)
This paper shows how the classical variation of the
electromagnetic potentials with nonzero current can be regarded as a
variation of the stationary Kaluza-Klein metric.
The results are not new - for example, they are also derived in the
following reference: A. Lichnerowicz, "Théories relativistes de
la gravitation et de l'électromagnétisme" (1955).
2. Appendix to the above
The appendix consists of the calculation of the components of
connection and curvature for the Kaluza-Klein metric. Due to some
errors found in the literature, this calculation is shown in all detail.
3. Five-dimensional quantum electrodynamics I ([v3] 14-11-2012; [v2] 4-4-2012; [v1] December 2011)
In
this paper the problem arising from the requirement of a constant
55-component of the metric is eliminated. The resulting theory also extends to a five-dimensional covariant
treatment of the Dirac equation. The main results are in section
4, further sections describe attempts to interpret the findings.
